Hello, stranger 👋 I'm Dom — product and UX designer, researcher, accessibility soldier, occasional developer, university lecturer, conference speaker and author. Currently moving into AI safety and AI enablement for people.

I'm very greedy, hopping between things like a monkey on a jungle vine, so it's hard to explain what I do. Here's the short version.

Now playing

It started as an overwhelming fear about what the AI explosion does to social fabric. I have pretty strong opinions about AI risks. The fear stayed. I moved to action.

Two things now:

AI safety — specifically human–AI relational dynamics and testing methodology. I explore ideas around human and agentic mixed workplaces. Also, I find AI safety needs to be democratized a bit — it’s too important now to stay with math geniuses, so in the near future I will be running a few projects in this space.
AI adaptation — helping individuals and small businesses redefine their work-related identity.

The risks land on social tissue, not on interfaces. I'd rather be useful there than design another web experience.

↑ Agentic honeymoon

I've been tinkering with agentic AI for a year now and much longer with LLMs. I am agile working with Openclaw, Hermes, Opencode, Claude, Pi, Agent Zero, and others. I architected a bunch of skills, automations, integrations, flows, and built apps and become LLMs connoisseur. It's all definitely fascinating how I can fairly easily replace my 26 years of experience with open-source tools and cheap LLMs. But there are pieces of this transformative technology that aren't aligned with my personal views. I could probably monetize my agentic experience to enable companies to make people redundant, but I choose not to. I need AI safety and hopefully AI safety needs me.

↑ Newer times, but I’m moving

Product design with a solid grasp of technology. Large portals, intranets, data-heavy interfaces, whole product concepts. Research: interviews, journeys, personas. Workshops with organizations in several countries.

I worked for such organizations as the Polish Science Academy, Quad/Graphics Inc., Ofcom UK, SNHU University, Canal+, Polpharma, Stanford University, Greenpeace, NSW Government, Bricoman, LexisNexis, Orlen, Universytet Adama Mickiewicza, and many more.

Due to my greediness to learn things, I am between a few worlds, a translator of sorts. I translate technology to design people and design to technology people.

I've been circling AI for 30+ years — artificial brains, robots, artificial life, chatbots in their poor algorithmic days ☺️. Now I run, or sometimes reign, agentic frameworks on my local and VPS servers, I’m LLMs connoisseur, and I'm back to coding (with vibes).

↑ Old times

I started around 2000 as a web designer who also built the things he designed. Accessibility is my jam. I initiated and edited the Polish translation of WCAG 2.0, wrote two books about building accessible websites (one for UNDP), and ran several dozen audits — Chancellery of the Prime Minister, ZUS, the Constitutional Tribunal, Ministry of Health, T-Mobile, mBank. I built the research methodology for accessibility studies covering 500 public websites, later reused by the Polish Supreme Audit Office. I trained thousands of people: UX designers, developers, website editors, scientists, Chancellery of the Prime Minister staff, and corporate folks.

In early 2000, I was deeply into information architecture, usability, and UX; I designed 100+ websites and web apps, and most of them I built.

I've been leading the UX Design postgraduate program at SWPS University (Katowice) for a few years. I also taught at Jagiellonian University and a few others.
